About

Mick was Head of Art at an independent school but he now paints full time from his studio in Rutland.  He studied Fine Art in Portsmouth under the tutorship of Miles Richmond, a close associate of David Bomberg and as a student he won a drawing prize to travel to Florence where he studied the work of the early Italian Renaissance artists that he loves.  The different approaches to drawing by Bomberg and Renaissance artists have always remained powerful influences in his work.

Mick’s work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London with the New English Art Club and The Royal Society of British Artists.  He has also had work included in various open exhibitions in Sheffield, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, and was a prizewinner in Spalding.  He has exhibited work at the Chelmsford Art Gallery, Huddersfield Art Gallery, Skylark Gallery and Woodbine Contemporary Arts, where his work was included at the Affordable Art Fair and Cork Street, London. He has held several exhibitions at The Gallery Stamford and Stamford Contemporary Arts. His work is in various private collections.
